Academically, we have had many SAT and ACT camps throughout the years, in summer and during school year for older students and we organize weekend schools for our younger students. We also offer private tutoring to students who feel they need more help. Additionally, we host clubs such as photography, coding, art, journalism, and sports. For those who need financial aid to attend college and/or university, we give scholarships.
Spiritually, we have weekend school for our younger kids and mentor programs for our older kids. Our goal is to build our students’ character and learn how to socially impact. In addition, we also organize retreat programs during seasonal school breaks chaperoned by our volunteer mentors. In these retreat programs, kids read books, listen to seminars, discover new places, and make stronger connections with their friends.
Socially, we strive to help our youth integrate into American culture as well as contribute to it throughout multiple programs. The demographics of our community mainly consist of first-generation Turkish-American families. This results in children questioning multiple factors of ethnic integration. Their families are more traditionally-oriented, whilst they themselves are more involved with American society. Our main goal is preserving the cultural values of our students and integrating them into modern-day society while doing so. We do this by certain courses that take place throughout the year. As a result of a combination of certain carefully chosen courses, we aim to have students that are creative and able to make use of their imagination, are academically capable, and are aware of their own culture and values. In short, we aim to integrate American values, academic richness, and ethnic tradition.
